This past Saturday saw a bunch of awesome Durban and KZN lady bloggers meet up – to catch up with those we haven’t seen in a while, to meet new faces who we’ve been following online, to do some fun and very worthwhile networking, to get introduced to some new products, and to get thoroughly spoilt by some epic sponsors!
This was all made possible by some incredible hard work and organising on the part of Verushka, Nicola and Michelle. You ladies really outdid yourselves! There is not one person in attendance who could have been in any way disappointed by this fabulous gathering, thank you!
Hashtag, a relatively new restaurant to the Durban scene, were our hosts for the day. I’ve seen these guys in the media (social and print), and I’ve been wanting to visit, so this was just perfect. We were treated to a stunning venue, superb service, cold drinks, coffee, and a delicious pizza and dessert! Thank you, Hashtag and your team. You really coped well with a bunch of excitable women on your hands, and there’s no doubt I’ll be back.
On arrival, each place setting was adorned with a mouthwatering selection of macarons and cake pops from Madame Macaron, cupcakes from Smith’s Bake Shop, a container of Blink Mints, and a bag full of Coo-ee soft drinks. And this was just the beginning of the spoils!
To begin with, Kitten Action was the recipient of our contribution to attending the meet, as well as the kitten food we were asked to bring along. Mandy, who is the founder of Kitten Action, chatted to us about the work they do, and wow, it was pretty eye-opening. Mandy is such a passionate and dedicated person, and I really admire her work with and for all the beautiful, abandoned kitties. Please give their website a squizz, and please consider supporting them if you can – whether you’re thinking of adopting a cat or someone you know is, or if you want to foster some adorable baby kitties, if you want to donate cash, or even if you just help out with some much-needed kitten food.
We were also treated to interesting chats and info from Philosophia Botanica (including trying out some of their lovely goodies), The Fry’s Guy who educated us on their family created vegetarian foods, and Lenovo, who demo’d and gave away two super sexy tablets (which I was very bleak not to have won).
In-between these goings on, there were prize draws, with one beautiful prize after another, one for each of the attendees. I got lucky with a gorgeous Moroccan Rose Otto Ultra-Moisture Body Oil from REN Skincare. This stuff is heavenly! I may just get addicted enough to use it in place of regular body lotion, especially during winter.
And then, after enjoying our delish Hashtag pizzas, all of us were totally blown away by the awesomeness of the goodie bags we were presented with! This was, quite literally, the goodie bag of swag to end all goodie bags! Just have yourself a peek at this haul…
Crazy, right?! See the awesome Lenovo laptop bag at bottom left? I don’t know if everyone got two of them or if I’m just extra special, but I really only have need for one. That, along with two R200 Uber vouchers, are what’s up for grabs as this post’s giveaways! See the end of the post for how to enter.
The other awesome goodies in there are two cups and saucers plus a bunch of recipe cards from Le Creuset, yummy choc chip cookies from Royal Dansk, notebook, pen and handy picnic cutlery from Zomato, 70% dark chocolate slab from Chocolate Memories, my fave olive oil from Greenleaf Olive Co, a Grip & Go bottle from Consol Glass (which I’ve had my eye on for a while), a Huawei memory stick, funky sunnies from Wakaberry, The Chicken Thief from Penguin Books (which I’m already thoroughly enjoying), handy coin purse keyring plus bunting and cupcake toppers from Lou Harvey Bags, magazines from Grazia and Essentials, a cook book from Golden Cloud, a beautiful weekly planner from Elephantshoe, a gorgeous handbag from YW Couture, my new fave PJs from Anna-Louise Sleepwear, a cook book, memory stick and vouchers from Fry’s Family Foods, fudge from the famous Tasha’s Fudge, my first ever roll of washi tape from WashiBug, a bookmark from Rebel Ink, a keyring from Romantic Events, a Mother’s Day card from Swee & Moo, a wooden mini sign from Second Treasures, lotion and potion heaven from Blendbox (bath treats), Clarins (I’m a huge fan), John Frieda (volume refresher for my skinny hair), Oh So Heavenly (body cream and body wash cream), Optiphi (been dying to try their stuff), Ponds (my first BB cream!), Rondavel (handmade soap), and Thierry Mugler smellies, beauty treats from Ice Box Colors (nail varnish), Ruby Box (divine make-up brushes to replace my tatty ones, plus kohl pencil, smooch stick and nail varnish), and last but by no means least, a wad of wonderful vouchers from Debonairs Pizza, Filo Yoghurt, myScoop, The Thrift Collection, Stila (also a make-up pencil), and Uber.
AND NOW FOR THE GIVEAWAYS!
TWO UBER VOUCHERS WORTH R200 EACH
These are for new Uber users only, otherwise there’s no way I’d be giving them away! I use Uber all the time if I know I’m going somewhere that I’m going to be drinking. It’s always an affordably classy ride with friendly drivers, and the ease of use of the app is just a cherry on the top. These entries are nationwide as the coupon is redeemable through the app.
Congrats to “itsrealinmyhead” who was the only entry for the Uber voucher. I’ll give the other one to a friend who I know hasn’t used Uber yet.
ONE LENOVO LAPTOP BAG WORTH R300
This is a lovely, soft and light laptop carry bag, with an extra pouch for paperwork, pens, business cards and so on, and it has a carry handle as well as a clip-on shoulder strap. Please note that this is for Durban entries only, unless you’re willing to pay the postage to get it to you if you’re not in Durban and you’re the winner.
Congrats to lucky number 6 as drawn by random.org – the laptop bag is yours, Dan!
TO ENTER, you need to submit a photo of yourself jumping through fiery hoops. Just kidding! Simply…

Thanks again for a great day out! I was also especially stoked to meet some really rad new people 🙂 Power to the lady bloggers!
