A few weeks ago I was searching for that “Sunscreen” song. You know the one…
Then I wanted it in audio format. And so the hunt began for a free download. I found loads. But (and I still haven’t figured this anomaly out, and couldn’t actually be assed) I could only find audio versions that began with, “Ladies and gentlemen of the class of ’97…”. Uh uh. I wanted the one that began with, “Ladies and gentlemen of the class of ’99…”. As in the video above. And boy oh boy, I can be a stubborn bitch when I’ve set my mind on something.
Long story short: About two hours and a fistful of hair later, I did find one. But then there was some other random song clip stuck in the middle of it. NOOOOOO!!!
A few weeks after this, my boss was looking for a nice recording to use for our company’s “on hold” message. After some searching by a few of us which didn’t yield much, I [have no idea why I] suggested, “Maybe you’ll find something on YouTube, and then I’m sure I can find a way to convert it to an MP3.” WHAT???
Why in the world could I not have thought of this when I was looking for the exact audio of the video above? I astound myself sometimes.
All’s well that ends well.
So, having committed myself to this task, I went on the hunt, and Googled the search term that I’ve used for this post. It didn’t take me long at all to come across this magical free service, YouTube2MP3.net.
I’m pretty sure sliced bread was never this good. And, yes, I did finally get the right Sunscreen audio file 🙂
